Pedestrian Accidents in San Francisco

Pedestrians are one of the few road-user groups which continue to see an increase in fatalities each year. Officials with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) are working to raise awareness about pedestrian safety with their “Everyone is a Pedestrian” campaign. Pedestrians are one of the most vulnerable road user groups, because they lack the safety of a steel cage, air bags, seat belts or even helmets. Motorists need to understand that pedestrians are truly at the mercy of other roadway users.

When to Contact an Attorney

If you or a loved one has been injured in a pedestrian accident, you need to contact an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as possible. Pedestrian accidents can leave victims in the hospital or worse. Pedestrians are even more vulnerable than bicyclists, who at least have the benefit of safety equipment like helmets. Head injuries are a common occurrence when pedestrians are struck by cars, and concussions and traumatic brain injuries can occur from even seemingly minor impacts with the ground or other hard objects.
